CHANGE LOG

2003/10/10
Some graphic updates to the site. A few pages added. Notably the Hall of Other.

Total number of hosted pages: 27
Total available pages: 29

Site Version: 1.09
Script Version: 1.02
Notes: Graphics being updated. A new 'beta version' CSS file is in testing. Looking to move the entire site to use the sytle presented in the hall of other. Possible plans to moves parts of the site into a flat database with a Perl/CGI based server.

2003/8/4
OK, there have been several page additions over the last few months, but no major changes. The biggest additions have been a link to my under-used blog and some pictures.

I am still writing these pages on a Windows machine. I have fallen in love with the new Mac G5, but it is not in the budget now. Maybe later... when the Mac G9 comes out. (sigh...)

Total number of hosted pages: 22
Total available pages: 24

Site Version: 1.01
Script Version: 1.02
Notes: The Test Photo Album seems to work well, but I am not sure if it is preloading images properly. I think that it may not be storing images in the cache, but overwriting them in that same place in the cache, resulting in only one pre-load! Though, it may be that my computer is just very slow to process images. Let me know if you have any problems. I still have some tweaks I want to perform on this script, but who knows if I will get to it!

2003/5/9
Update after a long pause (due to a dead laptop). Pages now being edited in a windows text editor. I miss Linux and VI.

Site update to 1.01. Japanese page added. Japanese text written with Microsoft Front Page. Still missing my Linux machine.

Total number of hosted pages: 19
Total available pages: 20

Site Version: 1.01
Script Version: 1.02
Notes: I want to post some new information on the Pontiac side of the site. Some ideas in the works, but nothing new yet. I would really like to get a scanner, and that would help all parts of the site, but I am still not sure what I will do about my lack of a Linux machine. Computers and parts are expensive...

2003/4/13
Script fix for Master.js to open external pages in a new window. However, external pages are counted as thecamshaft.net pages by the counting function. Guestbook (finally) added.

The Guestbook is hosted by Lycos.com as a HTML Gear.

Total number of hosted pages: 18
Total available pages: 19

Site Version: 1.00
Script Version: 1.02
Notes: I may change the way the page counter works later. But, for now, it is counting external links (ie, the guestbook) as well. Perhaps I should put up a separate counter for 'hosted' pages and available pages. This does not include links to other sites.

2003/4/12
A picture page for food added. Script fix (actually made before this date) for the new window function on the links page. Update gives much needed scroll-bars.

Total number of pages: 18

Site Version: 0.99a
Script Version: 1.01
Notes: I have begun to think of a new design for this site. Though, because I would have to re-write everything, I doubt it will happen in the near future. (Especially because I want to use PHP in the next version.)

2003/3/27
Two pages added: An HTML List Generator and a repository for previous Pontiac pages. Several updates to the Pontiac pages. My favorite feature in this update is the list generator. If you know a bit of HTML and want to make a list, this may be a good time saver for you. Then again, it might not. Really, I just wanted a project to program.

Minor updates to other pages. Total number of pages: 17

Site Version: 0.99a
Script Version: 1.01
Notes: This update made no changes to the master.js file except to add links. Special scripts are 1-page only.

2003/3/6
Problem with page numbers resolved. (led to links that went to the wrong pages. All together now: Doh!) A checkbox has been added to link pages that allows the user to select where to open the link. Maybe I will change this function to open a full-featured window. (Now, it opens without the menu / navigator bar.)

Minor updates to other pages. Total number of pages: 15

Site Version: 0.99a
Script Version: 1.01
Notes: Repository for previous homepages still in the works. There is a page for it (Home Archive), but there is nothing really on it yet!

2003/2/21
Button function overhauled. It now writes the buttons in a specified order and moves the current page to the top of the list. Any sublinks will be written underneath it. (Go to the Pontiac portion of the site to see it in action). Also, a function has been included to count the number of available pages on the site. (See the top of this page.)
Several pages have been added. Unfortunately, they are not as complete as I would like due to time constraints. ...or at least that is the reason I am telling you.

Added pages: Links, Pontiac, Pontiac: Service, Pontiac: Links.

Site Version: 0.99
Script Version: 1.01
Notes: Problems noted with the prototype Pontiac Quiz from the previous version. MS Explorer doesn't give large enough JavaScript prompt boxes. Works fine in Netscape.

2003/2/14
JavaScript finally updated to version 1.0. New functions include a basic window opener, a date function, and a fully random icon generator. As of yet, the icon generator does not generate any image specific to the content, though, this feature may be added. For the next version, the window opener and the date function will be refined.
A picture page has been added to the site and a protype of the Pontiac quiz is available. (Prototype Quiz). Please note that this link may not work in future updates as the location may change.
As for the site itself, additional reviews and bio information have been posted. The index page has been outfitted with META tags to make the site searchable. I am debating about adding META to all pages on the site or just a select few...

Site Version: 0.99
Script Version: 1.0
Notes: While the Java Script has been updated, I am still developing content. The above mentioned Quiz program will be honed for the Pontiac portion of the site. I have many pages I would like to add, including a Page for writings and for Flash Media, but as of now they are not up. There are few pictures on the pictures pages as transferring from Cell-Phone camera to email to Internet Cafe computer to disk to home computer and back to the Internet Cafe's computer for upload to the site is time consuming and annoying, so there are few pictures right now. Expect a drop down box in the next version to choose picture pages. This will require an Java Script program. More details later.

2003/1/31
Button writing function updated to use Arrays though no change should be evident to the user. Why am I writing this? The bio page has received a bit more attention... Basics for a random icon loader incorporated into the master javascript file, but function is not used yet.

Construction of a pop-up window generation begun. This function will be used to provide links to content, such as large images, that are hard to incorporate into the usual viewing area. Function's name to be imageboy.

Site Version: 0.9
Script Version: 0.96
Notes: With this version a few spelling mistakes were corrected in the body of the site, though I did not think it warranted an update to the site version.

Thinking about adding CGI functionality to the site. Though, adding content is key right now. This version not published.

2003/1/22
Script is updated to version 0.95 which includes a message function for the button bar and a icon/picture function for loading images at the top left corner. Only one icon is available with this version. Next version should include a function to select a picture based on the page number or content. All pages updated to use the new script.

Change Log page (this page) added to document site changes.

Site Version: 0.9
Script Version: 0.95
Notes: I would like to add a 'Last Modified' function to the bottom of every page. This function may come later, though will be hosted locally (not in the master.js file.)

2003/1/17
Site goes online using Tripod servers.

Site Version: 0.9
Script Version: 0.9
Notes: Site design is borrowed heavily from a previous site I designed. Though I had a new design, it was ugly, so I decided to recycle. Trust me, its better this way.
